 Environment + Bas = PUB
Most people wouldn’t throw a plastic bag in the woods. However, some people actually would. It is a fact that over 90% of all plastic ever made still exists somewhere today! The good news is that Swedish department store PUB now uses a new type of bag made of d2w – a new type of environmentally friendly, cutting edge plastic that will biodegrade in just three years. Furthermore, the shipment of the bags is certified to have a minimum effect on the environment.
All these facts can be found on the PUB’s new bags designed by BAS Brand Identity. The fabrication date is also printed so you can assess when the bags will biodegrade. The new bags are part of PUB’s new environment program, which is tailored to the company’s young environmentally conscious audience.
PUB’s bags are made of HDPE with Symphony’s d2w® additive, which makes the plastic, biodegrade at the end of its useful life, leaving no harmful residues.
The impact of the additive is negligible and the finished product retains all the dynamic qualities of standard plastics including strength, clarity, sealability, permeability and print.
Significantly, the Oxo-Biodegradable additive does not need a biologically active environment to start degrading, which is the case with other biodegradable starch based products such as cornstarch. The plastic will degrade even if it is left in the open air! This is very important if we are to address the serious litter problems caused by waste plastic.
The useful life can be ‘programmed’ from as little as a few months to as much as a few years. PUB’s bags are programmed for a lifetime of three years.
